Nachum was honored to host congressional representatives Gregory Meeks (D-NY6) & Nan Hayworth (R-NY19) on JM in the AM this morning to discuss the heroism of Raoul Wallenberg and the Raoul Wallenberg Centennial Celebration Act, a bill which hopes to posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to Raoul Wallenberg, in recognition of his achievements and heroic actions during the Holocaust. Raoul Wallenberg is widely celebrated for his successful efforts to rescue thousands of Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary from the Holocaust, during the later stages of World War II. While serving as Sweden's special envoy in Budapest between July and December 1944, Wallenberg issued protective passports and sheltered Jews in buildings designated as Swedish territory, saving tens of thousands of lives. Nachum and the representatives discussed the efforts taking place to have the bill passed in time for this August 4th, the 100th anniversary of Raoul's birth. Click the link to listen.
