Dear Editor:

As a resident of the beautiful Hudson Valley, it is somewhat dismaying that the media continuously refers to Rep. Nan Hayworth’s (NY-19) opponent, Sean Patrick Maloney, as a resident of Cold Spring. The fact of the matter is, Sean Patrick Maloney is not a resident of Cold Spring, not a resident of Putnam County and not a resident of the Hudson Valley for that matter...

He only bought a house after he made the politically expedient decision to run in a congressional district that he has no attachment to. In contrast to Mr. Maloney’s roots, Rep. Nan Hayworth has lived in the Hudson Valley for more than 20 years. She raised her family in the Hudson Valley, she practiced medicine in the Hudson Valley, and was a member of various civic organizations before she was elected to Congress. These are the qualities that every elected official should strive to maintain.

I enthusiastically support Rep. Hayworth for re-election because I believe she has the right ideas for helping this country emerge from the economic mess that plagues us. I also support her because she has her finger on the pulse of what her constituents want, unlike her opponent, who has no idea who we are and what we want from a representative. I urge all residents to vote Rep. Hayworth in November – she’s one of us.
