Nan's bipartisan efforts get us one step closer to rebuilding the Forge Hill Road Bridge in New Windsor.

"We are here to work for the people of New Windsor and the Hudson Valley so I am very glad that that funding will be there and I hope that the repair work will start even faster if we can possibly make that happen because they have certainly waited more than a year now for relief," Nan said.

 WASHINGTON – The Federal Highway Administration will finally release the $1.6 million needed to rebuild the Forge Hill Road Bridge in New Windsor and install a new traffic light at a nearby intersection.

The bridge collapsed from the floodwaters of Tropical Storm Irene over a year ago and public officials from the local, state and federal levels have been calling for release of funds to rebuild the structure.

Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, who inspected the site weeks ago with State Senator William Larkin, Assemblywoman Nancy Calhoun and New Windsor Town Supervisor George Green, was glad to hear that a push by US Senator Charles Schumer was able to secure a commitment that the money would be released.

Schumer said the work is set to begin next year and be fully funded by the Federal Highway Administration.
